Favorites, Part 1

New York Daily Photo is now over 7 years old. Since 2006, I have posted nearly 2000 stories with accompanying photos. As would be expected, the output varies. Some stories were quite elaborate and took considerable work, sometimes days or weeks, to complete. A number were written in two parts, with Part 1 as a deliberate teaser.

Over time, I wove more and more personal experience into the stories, drawing from everything in my life, both in New York City and where I grew up in New England. I made the story titles enigmatic to draw readers into the text to see how unlikely elements were connected. My greatest rewards were when my favorite stories resonated and became yours too.
However, all of these favorites, most viewed and most commented stories, are buried in archives. So, my biggest frustration is how to mine this content and bring the best to you. Today I am launching the first installment of my and your Favorites

Just want to let you know I was watching ‘Elementary’ on CBS at 10:00 last night and towards the end of the show they are standing in front of this gate, and then walked through the house in search of someone. I recognized it immediately from your post!! Thanks…I love it when I recognize locations in many of the shows that are filmed in NYC!

  2. My favorite one is when you got your new windows in your apartment. Don’t know why, but it is..

Oh Bonnie, that is a wonderful post, thanks for the reminder! Which brings me to one of my favorites (Brian will be saying, “I could have guessed that one!”), the same window in White by Design 2. I also love all the posts and photos of the beautiful cemeteries, as well as that fascinating Mushroom House in Bay Ridge, and the storefront of yesteryear-the Vesuvio Bakery.
I really look forward to the new treats; we’re so lucky to have your posts every week.

  4. My husband and I have visited many of the restaurants, parks, buildings, bakeries, and streets over the last 2000 posts. We come to NY once or twice a year armed with printouts from your blog. We appreciate the city in a totally different manner. Thank you.

Leslie, Bonnie, Maire – thank you for all your support and feedback over the years. It means a lot to me that my stories became part of your lives too.

I don’t recall how I got to your blog, but the fact is that I did, and for the past 2 years I have enjoyed your stories very much. Thank you for this, I hope you keep posting stories for many more years.

Greetings from a Venezuelan college student in his early 20s, who enjoys your blog and hopes to experience at least half of what you have done in your life
