Mihail Chemiakin’s bronze iconic landmark, “Cybele,” goddess of fertility and abundance, stands on a Prince Street sidewalk at 15 feet tall with eight pairs of breasts, four pairs of buttocks, three animal heads (two rams and a lioness), and a human face. There is a mirrored window behind, allowing you to see everything at once. Something for everyone, she is the Great Female Goddess of the city’s feminists and a generous sexual icon for the male worshipers of Venus…

thats a ….uhmm, very unique statue!

I’ll have to go see it next time I’m in NYC.

Very interesting!
All I can think of is “T&A” and a terrible song by Mafia 6, but regardless it’s a great photo!
what is thattttt!
Sir Mix-a-Lot would love this…
So pleased to see this photo. I tried a little poem about this on my blog based on my friend's photo, but couldn't tell what the artist's view was, whether a celebration of beauty and fertility or a satirical stance. But now I am able to see all the beautiful curves, I think it is more the former. (With me, this started with another photo of a tree growing coco de mer.)If of interest, my blog is http://Beachcombingbard.blogspot.com/
